JSL Studios is one barber and one chair in Richmond, Nelson. Josh cuts hair, trims beards and gets kids through their first haircut without tears, and he keeps a diary that runs on time.
How Josh works
A cut starts with a conversation, not clippers. How you wear your hair, how much time you give it in the morning, how soon you want to be back. Then the cut, then a proper finish at the edges with a razor, then a quick style so you can see how it sits before you get out of the chair.
The point of one chair is that you always get the same barber. Josh remembers what you had last time, what you said about it, and how it grew out. That is worth more than a chain with six chairs and a different face every visit.
What he cuts
- Men's haircuts, scissor and clipper, short to long.
- Skin fades, tapers, drop fades and burst fades.
- Beard trims and line-ups with a hot towel.
- Kids' haircuts, including the nervous ones.

Where
