Kids' haircuts in Richmond and Nelson
Kids' haircuts by Josh at JSL Studios, Richmond. Patient with nervous first-timers, quick with the ones who cannot sit still. Boys' cuts and fades.
Cutting a child’s hair is a different job from cutting an adult’s. The cut is often simpler. Keeping the kid still and happy is the hard part, and it is what decides whether they want to come back.
How Josh handles it
Everything is explained before it happens. The cape goes on, the clippers get shown and switched on so they are not a surprise, and the cut starts at the back where a child cannot see it, which is usually where they are least bothered. Breaks are fine. Tears are fine. A cut that gets finished across two goes is still a finished cut.
Parents can stay right beside the chair, or sit in it with a younger child on their lap.
Cuts for kids
- Tidy-ups. Around the ears, the fringe out of the eyes, the neck cleaned.
- Short back and sides. The standard school cut. Sensible sides, some length on top.
- Fades. Yes, kids ask for them and yes, Josh does them properly.
- Longer styles. Trims and shape-ups that keep the length a child wants.
Booking
Use the booking form and put your child’s age in the message so Josh can plan the slot. If a parent wants a men’s haircut at the same visit, say so and the two get booked back to back.
