This policy explains how JSL Studios ("we", "us") handles personal information you provide through this website. It is written to comply with the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020 and its Information Privacy Principles (IPPs).
Who we are
JSL Studios is a barber based in Richmond, Nelson. This website exists so you can find out what we cut and request a booking.
What we collect (IPP 1, 4)
- What you give us in the booking form: your name, phone number, email if you add it, the cut you want, when suits, and anything you write in the message box.
- Technical information collected automatically: IP address, browser type, pages viewed. We do not run analytics or advertising cookies at the time of writing.
We collect only what is needed to reply to your booking. We do not ask for or store payment details through this site.
Why we collect it (IPP 1, 8, 10)
- To reply to your booking request and confirm a time.
- To contact you if that time changes.
- To keep a record of appointments.
Collection notice (IPP 3)
When you submit the booking form, we collect the information directly from you, and you agree to us using it to reply to and manage your booking.
How we store it (IPP 5)
- Form submissions travel over an encrypted connection to our form provider, Web3Forms, which delivers them to our email inbox.
- All traffic on this site is served over HTTPS.
- The form is protected by an anti-spam honeypot field.
- Only Josh has access to booking requests.
Accuracy (IPP 8)
We take reasonable steps to make sure the details we hold are accurate before we use them, which in practice means confirming your number when we reply.
Access and correction (IPP 6, 7)
You can ask us at any time what information we hold about you and to correct it. Use the contact form. We will respond within 20 working days.
How long we keep it (IPP 9)
Booking requests are kept for up to 24 months so we can see your history if you come back, then deleted, unless the law requires us to keep them longer.
Disclosure (IPP 11)
We do not sell, rent or trade your information. It is shared only with:
- Service providers we rely on: our website host and Web3Forms, which receives form submissions and delivers them to our inbox. They act on our behalf and are bound by their own privacy obligations.
- Legal authorities: where the law or a court requires it.
Overseas disclosure (IPP 12)
Our website host and form provider may process information outside New Zealand, including in the United States. We rely on their contractual protections as IPP 12 allows.
Cookies and analytics
No analytics or advertising cookies are running on this site at the time of writing. If that changes this page will say so with a new "Last updated" date.
Children
Bookings for children are made by a parent or guardian. We do not knowingly collect information directly from anyone under 16.
Changes
We may update this policy. The date at the top tells you when it last changed.
